Itimad-ud-Daulah

Begin your exploration with Itimad-ud-Daulah, a graceful white-marble mausoleum on the banks of the Yamuna. Built in the early 17th century, it is admired for its fine marble inlay, delicate screens, and intricate detailing.

Often referred to as the “Baby Taj,” the monument offers a more intimate introduction to Mughal architecture and craftsmanship.

Mehtab Bagh at Sunset

Later in the afternoon, cross to the opposite bank of the Yamuna for Mehtab Bagh. This historic Mughal garden offers a beautiful perspective of the Taj Mahal, particularly as the monument takes on changing tones in the evening light.

It is a peaceful place to step away from the bustle of the city, photograph the Taj from a different perspective, or simply enjoy the view as the day comes to an end.

An Optional Local Experience

If you would like to incorporate traditional Indian attire into your Taj Mahal visit the following morning, you may stop at a local atelier to browse or rent a saree. This can be arranged according to your interests and schedule.

Taj Mahal at Sunrise

Rise early for one of the most memorable moments of your journey: the Taj Mahal at sunrise.

Arriving in the early morning allows you to experience the monument as the first light moves across its white marble and the surrounding gardens begin to come alive. Take your time exploring the monument and appreciating the details of its architecture, its history, and the story behind its creation.

There will also be time to enjoy the setting and capture photographs from some of the most scenic viewpoints.

Return to your hotel afterward for breakfast and check out.

Agra Fort

Continue to Agra Fort, the magnificent red-sandstone fortress that served as the center of Mughal power for generations. Within its massive walls are royal residences, audience halls, courtyards, mosques, and balconies overlooking the Yamuna.

The fort offers a fascinating glimpse into the world of the Mughal emperors and provides an important historical counterpart to the Taj Mahal.

A Glimpse of Agra's Craft Traditions

Before leaving Agra, you may choose to visit a local artisan workshop. The city has a long tradition of marble inlay and Zardozi embroidery, with skilled craftspeople continuing techniques passed down through generations.

It is an opportunity to see these traditional crafts being created firsthand, meet the artisans, and browse some of their work if you wish.

Return to Delhi

Settle back into your private car for the drive to Delhi. On arrival, you will be dropped off at your preferred location, bringing your two-day Agra experience to a close.
